A gentleman named Michael Rivas was tragically killed on Saturday afternoon when his motorcycle was hit by a car. The crash happened on Saturday afternoon on Hope Mills Road at the intersection with Westgate Drive. According to available information, Mr. Rivas was traveling along Hope Mills Road when a woman driving a 2004 Mercury pulled across his path while attempting to turn on Westgate Drive. Mr. Rivas was 33 years old.
The driver of the Mercury has been charged with numerous crimes including unsafe movement, driving with an expired license, expired registration, and an inspection violation. Hopefully, the driver of the Mercury has insurance to help cover this significant claim. If not, the Rivas family may be entitled to uninsured motorists coverage to cover this claim.

A gentleman named Richard Fields was tragically killed on Wednesday morning while riding his scooter in Burlington, North Carolina. The crash happened as Mr. Fields was traveling north on Beaumont Avenue. According to the limited information available, a car traveling in the opposite direction was attempting to turn left onto North Church Street and the collision resulted.
The reports of this crash do not indicate that any charges have been filed against the driver of the car. However, it would appear that the car failed to yield to Mr. Fields and cross the path of Mr. Fields causing this collision. if we learn more about this crash, we will update this story.

A gentleman named Randy Mason was tragically killed Tuesday night in a motorcycle crash in Durham, North Carolina. The crash happened around 7:30 pm on Guess Road near the intersection with Garland Street. According to available information, Mr. Mason was traveling south on Guess Road when a Ford Focus attempted to turn onto Garland Street. Based on the reports of this crash, it appears that the Ford turned across the path of Mr. Mason.
Mr. Mason was transported to the hospital but did not survive. He was 28 years old and from Durham.
After this initial collision, another motorcyclist on a Honda bike crashed into the rear bumper of the Ford Focus. This motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
At this point, police have not filed any charges against the driver of the Ford Focus but it would appear that the driver of the Focus was at fault and would likely be charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash Saturday morning on N.C. Highway 150 near Midway, North Carolina. The wreck happened around 11:20 am when a woman pulled out of a Sheetz convenience store near Hickory Tree Road and then changed lanes into the path of an oncoming motorcyclist. The motorcyclist was driving a 2012 Victory bike but lost control as he tried to avoid the woman.
The biker was transported to Wake Forest Baptists Hospital but is expected to survive. The woman was charged with failure to yield.

There was a serious accident on Interstate 95 in Cumberland County, North Carolina on Saturday afternoon involving a motorcycle and a trailer has resulted in serious injuries to one person.
The wreck happened on the northbound side of I-95 at around 4:45 pm. As a result of the wreck, one person was transported to Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville for treatment.
At this point it is not clear if the motorcyclist was hurt or who may be at fault for this accident. We will update this post as we learn more information.

A gentleman named Tevin Thompson was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in Lumberton, North Carolina on Sunday afternoon. The accident happened on Norment Road when a man turned left onto a private drive and hit Mr. Thompson.
The driver of the vehicle has been charged with failure to yield and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Mr. Thompson was 22 years old.

A motorcyclist was killed on Sunday in a wreck on the Blue Ridge Parkway north of Asheville, North Carolina. The wreck happened near the Ox Creek Road and Town Mountain Road at around 3:30 pm. Apparently a blue Subaru turned in front of the motorcyclist, hitting it, and causing the motorcycle to strike a second bike.
At this point, there is no indication of any charges against the driver of the Subaru. Based on the limited information available, it would seem likely that the driver of the Subaru would be charged with a failure to yield and a misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

A gentleman named Orlando Atkinson was seriously injured on Wednesday night when he was hit while riding his motorcycle in Goldsboro, North Carolina. The wreck happened on Country Day Road near Wayne Memorial Drive when a vehicle crossed the center line and hit Mr. Atkinson while he was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Mr. Atkinson was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina for treatment.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of the vehicle that crossed the center line. It is believed to be a General Motors pick-up truck or SUV manufactured between 2007 and 2014. Anyone with information about this accident is asked to call the North Carolina Highway Patrol at 919-731-7960.

A gentleman named David Drach was tragically killed and his wife Nancy Drach was seriously injured on Tuesday morning in a motorcycle crash involving a lumber truck near Valle Crucis, North Carolina. The crash happened around 11:00 am on N.C. Highway 194. According to available information, The Drachs were traveling northbound on NC 194 while a flatbed truck was traveling southbound. Apparently, the flatbed truck was transporting lumber that had become unsecured and was protruding out from the truck. As the Drachs rode past the truck on their motorcycle, the lumber struck them causing the crash.
Mr. Drach did not survive. Mrs. Drach was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center. The Drachs are apparently from Lake Placid, Florida.

This is a very tragic accident and appears to have been easily prevented had the load on the flatbed been properly secured. The truck belongs to New River Building Supply and the driver has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. At this time, it is not clear whether anyone else may have also been responsible for securing the lumber onto the truck.

A terrible accident near Valle Crucis, North Carolina has left one motorcyclist dead and another seriously injured. The accident happened on N.C. Highway 194 on Tuesday at around 11:00 am. According to available information, a flatbed truck carrying lumber was traveling south on NC 194 while the motorcycle was traveling north. Apparently, lumber had shifted in the flatbed and came out from beneath straps placed on either end of the load. The lumber was hanging off the side of the truck and struck the motorcyclist as they road in the opposite direction.
There was a man and a woman on the motorcycle and the man was killed. The woman was airlifted to Johnson City Medical Center in critical condition. There is some indication that the man and woman were from Florida. The lumber truck is apparently owned by New River Building Supply Company. The driver of the lumber truck has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.

This was a very preventable accident had the lumber truck operator taken the time to properly secure the load. There may be additional responsible parties who were involved with placing this load but this information is not known at this time.
