A motorcyclist was seriously injured in an accident Friday morning on NC Highway 150 North near Lexington, North Carolina. The accident apparently happened when a woman went to her mailbox to retrieve her mail and then turned back into the roadway without looking. The motorcyclist then struck the woman. A least one eye witness seems to indicate that the woman simply failed to see the motorcyclist.
Both the woman and the motorcyclist were taken to Wake Forest Baptists Hospital for treatment.

This is an unusual accident because it involves a pedestrian instead of another vehicle. One significant question from this wreck is whether there is any insurance for the claims of either person. A motorcyclist named James Williams was killed Thursday evening in Charlotte, North Carolina in a hit and run motorcycle accident.
The accident occurred just north of uptown Charlotte at around 9:25 pm when a Ford F-150 apparently ran over Mr. Williams after he was thrown from his motorcycle. Following the accident, the driver of the F-150 fled the scene but was followed by two witnesses in a vehicle behind the Ford. The two witnesses, who should be commended for their efforts, followed the Ford and called 911. They followed the Ford onto Interstate 85 into Gaston County where a traffic stop apprehended the driver of the Ford. The driver of the Ford was arrested for DWI, felony death by motor vehicle and felony hit-and-run.

A motorcyclist was seriously injured on Saturday afternoon in an accident in Salisbury, North Carolina. The accident happened around 2:00 pm on Long Branch Road and involved a pickup truck. Apparently, the pickup and the motorcycle struck head-on but there is not indication as to which driver may be at fault. We would expect that North Carolina State Highway Patrol officers are investigating this wreck.
The motorcyclist was transported to Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte for treatment of serious injuries.

A moped rider named David Fondren was killed on Thursday in an accident involving a school bus in Salisbury, North Carolina. According to the limited information available, the accident happened around 8:40 am on West Innes Street, It is not clear what caused the accident and police are apparently still investigating. Mr. Fondren was 54 years old and from Kannapolis.

A young man riding a foot scooter was tragically killed on Wednesday morning in a hit and run accident in Hampstead, North Carolina. The accident happened on Highway 17 and apparently involved a 2006 Chevrolet SUV or pickup truck based on debris found at the scene.
The young man that was killed was a junior at Topsail High School. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is actively looking for the vehicle involved in the accident.

A terrible accident on Tuesday morning in Boone, North Carolina has resulted in the death of a moped driver. The accident happened around 11:30 am at the intersection of NC Highway 194 and East King Street. According to available information, a tractor-trailer was involved in the wreck.
The Boone Police Department and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol are apparently conducting an investigation of the accident. At this time, it is not clear whether the driver of the moped or the driver of the tractor trailer was at fault.

A motorcyclist named Rossano Charles Gardner was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Thursday evening in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The wreck happened at the intersection of New Hope Road and Corporation Parkway at around 6:45 pm. Raleigh police are still investigating the accident and it is not clear at this time who may be responsible. Mr. Gardner was seriously injured in the crash.

A motorcyclist named Nicholas Jones was seriously injured on Sunday afternoon in an accident on Buffalo Shoals Road in Statesville, North Carolina. The accident happened when a Nissan Altima was turning left from Buffalo Shoals Road onto Poppy Lane and apparently crossed the path of Mr. Jones on his motorcycle.
NC State Highway Patrol officers apparently indicate that the driver of the Nissan was not at fault because there is a slight dip in the road which made it difficult to see Mr. Jones as he approached on his motorcycle. There is also the suggestion that Mr. Jones was traveling at a high rate of speed. However, if there is a dip in the road, the turning vehicle should be even more concerned about on-coming vehicles such as Mr. Jones’ motorcycle before turning and the Nissan may have had the last clear chance to avoid this wreck.

A gentleman named Shaun Murdock was tragically killed Tuesday morning in a Wilmington, North Carolina motorcycle accident. The accident happened when a man driving a 2013 Toyota fled police and then ran a red light hitting Mr. Murdock.
The accident happened near the intersection of South College Road and Peachtree Avenue. North Carolina State Troopers originally attempted to stop the the driver of the Toyota in Brunswick County which prompted a chase which led into New Hanover County. After the accident with Mr. Murdock, the driver of the Toyota continued to flee but was ultimately arrested near Winter Park Elementary school. He has been charged with numerous crimes including speeding, felony hit and run, and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
The facts of the serious accident are very disturbing. The driver of the Toyota has violated many laws of North Carolina and faces serious criminal charges as a result. However, it is also not clear why the chase of the Toyota continued to such an extent that the Toyota crossed in a busy section of Wilmington. Many police departments now have strict guidelines on when a vehicle chase should continue due to the possibility of accidents such as what happened in this case.
