A gentleman from Harnett County, North Carolina named Joseph Baker was tragically killed last week in an accident involving a mowing tractor.  The accident happened on August 15 on North Carolina Highway 24-27 near the Moore County line.

According to reported information, Mr. Baker was operating his Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the eastbound lane of 24-27 when the operator of the mower made a u-turn into Mr. Baker’s lane.  Mr. Baker was then forced into the westbound lane but the mower ultimately hit Mr. Baker’s motorcycle.  Mr. Baker was then ejected from the bike. He was transported to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill but ultimately passed away as a result of the collision.  The operator of the mower was apparently doing contractor work for the NCDOT at the time.  The operator has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
