A gentleman motorcyclist named Joseph Moncalieri was seriously injured last Wednesday when a car apparently turned across his path in Camden County, North Carolina.

The accident happened while Mr. Moncalieri was traveling west on U.S. Highway 158 in the small community of Belcross.  Apparently, a car coming in the opposite direction attempted a turn into a driveway and crossed the path of Mr. Moncalieri.  As a result, Mr. Moncalieri wsa ejected from his motorcycle.  Mr. Moncalieri was taken to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center before being airlifted to Sentara Hospital in Norfolk for additional care.

The driver of the car that turned across Mr. Moncalieri’s path has been cited for failure to yield the right of way.

It is not clear why the driver of the car failed to see Mr. Moncalieri but this type of accident occurs too often on the roadways of North Carolina.  Hopefully, Mr. Moncalieri will recover from his serious injuries.
