A gentleman named Thomas Hoosier was killed following an accident in Glen Alpine near Morganton, North Carolina.  The accident happened around 7:50 pm at the four-way intersection of US Highway 70 and London Street.

According to reports, Mr. Hoosier had entered the intersection when he was struck by a Chevy Suburban.  The driver of the Suburban has been charged with a safe movement violation.  There is some indication that the lights on the moped were not operational at the time of the accident.  However, this is not confirmed and most scooters and mopeds are now designed so that the lights come on automatically when the ignition is turned on.
