It is unclear from the information available on this accident why the tanker truck pulled out into the path of the motorcyclists.  In some cases, video surveillance from the truck stop may provide valuable insight into how and why this accident happened.  Hopefully, the investigating troopers have secured any available video surveillance. Additionally, the on board computer program on the tanker truck should be immediately downloaded to hopefully gather important information about the actions of the truck driver before the accident.  In cases such as this, our firm regularly employs accident reconstruction engineers to quickly gather this critical evidence.  If you or a family member have been involved in an accident such as this, contact the North Carolina motorcycle lawyers at Hendren & Malone for a free consultation.

Based on the very limited information available on this accident, it is very difficult to determine if the driver of the vehicle may be at fault.  For instance, did the dirt bike have working reflectors of a headlight that should have alerted the driver that the dirt bike was in the road.  Hopefully, investigators will be able to determine whether these factors played a role in this accident.
