On Thursday night, a tragic accident claimed the life of a young moped rider. The accident happened around 9:15 pm at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Albany Street.

This accident is another example of automobile drivers failing to pay attention to moped and motorcycle riders. This case is very similar to a case we are working on now involving a Raleigh man who was killed when a bus turned into his path. Hopefully, the driver of the car has significant insurance but the fact that he was driving without a license is concerning.

Two gentleman who were part of a motorcycle group called the Black Eagle Ryders MC were killed in a horrific motorcycle accident on Friday morning near Greensboro, North Carolina.
The accident apparently happened when a tractor-trailer driver ran off the side of the road and struck a group of motorcyclists on Interstate 85 near Greensboro, North Carolina. After hitting the motorcyclists, the tractor-trailer driver then apparently fled the scene of the accident. Reports now indicate that he is being charged with felony hit-and-run and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
The accident happened around 6:00 am and there were a total of six motorcyclists involved who were all on their way to a rally in Atlanta. They had pulled off the side of the highway when the tractor-trailer ran through them. One of the motorcyclists was treated for minor injuries and three other bikers were more seriously injured.
Initial reports indicate the driver of the tractor-trailer may have fallen asleep. If so, there may be serious questions about how much time the driver had been on the road and whether he had exceeded his allotted hours of service time pursuant to federal regulations. One could expect that investigators have seized his driver’s log to determine his hours of service.
