Motorcyclist David Sandmeyer Killed in Newport, NC Motorcycle Accident
A young man named David Sandmeyer was riding his motorcycle on Saturday afternoon when a pickup truck pulled into his path.
The accident happened in Newport, NC on N.C Highway 24 near the Pender Park Fuel Market. Apparently, the driver of the pickup truck was waiting for a funeral procession to pass and did not see Mr. Sandmeyer on his motorcycle. According to reports, there have been other serious accidents at this location and it is not clear whether this location posed an unsual roadway hazard that should have bene fixed by the NCDOT. Mr. Sandmeyer did not survive the accident.
Mr. Sandmeyer was a Marine stationed at Cherry Point and he was from Minnesota.

The terrible accident is another example of a vehicle turning into the path of a motorcycle. Like many others, this accident ended in tragedy for the Sandmeyer family. Under North Carolina law, this accident would give rise to a wrongful death claim for the family members of Mr. Sandmeyer.
