A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a Cary NC motorcycle accident on Wednesday afternoon.  The circumstances of the accident are unusual in that reports indicate that the motorcyclist had lost control of his bike and wrecked after exiting US I/440 to I-40.  A North Carolina State Highway Patrol officer had stopped to assist the biker when a Mercedes ran into the back of the patrol vehicle.

Apparently, the driver of the Mercedes, the state trooper, and the motorcyclist were all injured with the motorcyclist suffering serious injuries.  It is not clear whether the motorcyclist was injured in the initial crash or whether he was injured when the Mercedes hit the patrol car.  If the injuries to the motorcyclist were caused, or made worse, by the Mercedes, then the motorcyclist would have a potential claim against the driver of the Mercedes and his/her insurance company.
